SERIES SYNOPSIS
Cousins Debbie and Ray Jo Kooter
are a country-western singing sensation as big as Dolly Parton’s rack, but it wasn’t always that way for The Kooter
Cousins The series takes place long before they were stars- when the biggest gig they’d had so far was a tractor pull
at the fair grounds- and follows the Kooter Cousins as they fight tooth-and-nail to get the hell out of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee
and on to the stage at the Grand Old Opry.. Each episode shows the stories and adventures that inspired the next song off
their new album. Episode One, Out of Death Comes Bacon, finds the girls in trouble with the entire town after accidentally
electrocuting Soddy Daisy’s hero: Bessie the Pig.

THE HISTORY OF "NEXT SONG"
Kim Gatewood and Canedy Knowles met while performing with Chicago City Limits in New
York City. Their separate brands of comedy, when combined, created a comic voice that was exciting and different and
immediately they set out to take over the world using this new voice. While developing programming for the Oxygen Network,
they joined forces with Amy Dean Kennedy, who was not only in development there, but also happened to be Canedy’s old
roommate at arts camp. The three of them came up with the idea for “Next Song” based on characters Kim and
Canedy had been developing, Canedy and Amy’s Southern roots and the desire to create a show about the stories behind
country songs. So the seed was planted. Two years, many drafts and a guest appearance as the Kooter Cousins on
a late night talk show on New Jersey public access television later, Canedy and Kim had a script and the opportunity to shoot
the pilot episode on location in Soddy Daisy. For two weeks they frolicked in crinoline skirts, wore too much
make-up and got to live in the world they had only seen in their minds. The result is “Next Song Off Our New Album.”
